German coachbuilder Wiesmann revealed the Spyder, an extremely lightweight two-seater roadster concept, at the Geneva Motor Show today. With a kerb weight of under 1,000 kg (2,679 pounds), the small roadster model is said to be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h (180 mph), thanks to a high-revving 4.0-liter 420-hp V8 engine. As previously reported, Wiesmann had to find a replacement for BMW's 5.0-liter V10, as the German automaker dropped the specific engine from its line-up. Fans need not to worry though, because Wiesmann stayed with Bavaria's finest. And by that we mean that Wiesmann opted to fit its GT and Roadster MF4/MF5 old-school-look sports cars with BMW's 4.4-liter V8 twin turbo direct injection petrol unit.

There's a problem with German work-of-art-on-wheels auto manufacturer Wiesmann. Let's see if you can piece it together. The clues are: 1) Wiesmann sources its engines from BMW, 2) its top models, the Roadster MF5 and GT MF5, use the M5's 507-horse V10, and 3) BMW is dropping its V10 in favor of "greener" twin turbo V8s.
